A Day on Venus Is Longer Than a Year
Venus has one of the most unusual rotations in our solar system. A single day on Venus—meaning the time it takes for the planet to rotate once on its axis—lasts 243 Earth days. However, it only takes 225 Earth days for Venus to complete one orbit around the Sun. This means a day on Venus is actually longer than a year! Adding to the oddity, Venus rotates in the opposite direction of most planets, causing the Sun to rise in the west and set in the east. Venus is truly a planet of extremes!
